Belaya Vorona; The White Crow
The title of these 10 images comes from the Russian term, Belaya Vorona or- white crow- which is a misfit or eternal outsider. The series explores how we see ourselves and at what point our internal vision manifests itself in the external experience. These portraits blend the spectrum of light to dark and the ever present crow, as they hover around the mind and heart. The inner self unfolds into multiple faces and visual identities through the artwork. This raises the question, if we believe we exist on the fringes of acceptance then at what point does our internal struggle become the truth of our existence? The transition between darkness to light is necessary, for one cannot exist without the other.
